A thoroughly modern, peer reviewed and clinically relevant journal, the AJHM can trace its origins back to publications issued by the Association as long ago as the 1930s.

Issued quarterly, the AJHM publishes material on all aspects of medical herbalism including philosophy, phytochemistry, pharmacology and clinical application of medicinal plants. All NHAA members receive the AJHM and the journal is also available via subscription only.

About the Editor: Jane Frawley

Frawley JJane is a graduate of Nature Care College and Charles Sturt University, and has also completed a post graduate programme at the Graduate School of Integrative Medicine (Swinburne University) and a Master of Clinical Science at Southern Cross University.

Jane completed her PhD (Health) at UTS in 2015 investigating women’s health service utilisation during pregnancy, with a particular focus on pregnant women’s attitudes to health care, decision-making, information seeking and use of complementary medicine. Dr Frawley has published over twenty-five peer-reviewed manuscripts to date, has contributed chapters to many peer review books and has presented her research at prestigious conferences in Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Appointed by ARCCIM in 2015 as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, Dr Frawley is currently working on an Australian Research Council (ARC) funded project drawing upon the 45 and Up Study at the Sax Institute to examine women’s use of informal health care for five chronic health conditions. 

Jane has been in clinical practise for over 15 years, is a member of the Advisory Committee on Complementary Medicines (ACCM) for the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) and is chair of the Education Standards Committee for the Australian Register of Naturopaths and Herbalists (ARONAH).

Jane heads the Editorial Board and sees exciting times ahead for our the journal. Among other things she is keen to see our readers become more involved in increasing the journals strength and relevance by writing articles, case studies, monographs, commentary etc. Find out more about how you can Contribute to the AJHM.
