The NHAA International Conference on Herbal Medicine is a hugely popular event held every second year. this premier event attracts international and national delegates including Western herbal medicine, naturopathic, integrative medicine and allied health practitioners, students, nurses, researchers and academics. 

Our 10th such conference is to be held at the lovely Sofitel in the beautiful city of Brisbane.

The theme for this conference is Innovation, Integration & Inspiration and how these apply to herbal medicine and naturopathy in the management of chronic conditions that align with Australia's National Health Priority Areas: cancer, cardiovascular health, mental health, diabetes mellitus, asthma, arthritis and musculoskeletal conditions, obesity, and dementia.

Once again we will be incorporating the NHAA Awards of Excellence into the Industry Profession Dinner on the Saturday night. An unqualified success at our 2015 conference, this night will recognise those who inspire and excell and give everyone a chance to network, celebrate with old friends and new ones and dance into the small hours!

Plus you can expect the usual wealth of other international and national speakers inspiring and challenging you with topics from traditional to cutting edge, research and clinical, discussions and workshops.

Call for Abstracts

We invite authors to submit abstracts for presentations that align with the event themes of Innovation, Integration and Inspiration and the application of this to chronic health conditions including cancer, cardiovascular health, mental health, diabetes mellitus, asthma, arthritis and musculoskeletal conditions, obesity and dementia. Abstracts must align with one of the following sub-themes:

  • Clinical: Innovative complementary and integrative approaches to chronic health conditions in clinical practice.
  • Herbal Medicine Manufacture: Innovative and inspirational approaches to herbal medicine manufacturing in a challenging modern clinical environment.
  • Business and Practice Management: Innovative, inspirational and integrative approaches to business and employment opportunities for naturopathic and herbal medicine practitioners, including working collaboratively with allied and primary health practitioners.
  • Research: Innovative and inspirational research relevant to the broad field of herbal medicine, such as efficacy and effectiveness, clinical practice, health services, health behaviour and education.
  • Education: Innovative and inspirational approaches to the field of education of herbal and naturopathic medicine, including both undergraduate and postgraduate education.
  • Public health and policy: Innovative and inspirational approaches to public health, regulation and policy issues facing naturopathy and herbal medicine in a contemporary health systemPlenary, concurrent sessions, workshops and posters will be considered that are consistent with the themes outlined. 

We are particularly interested in presentations that can provide practical application for herbalists, naturopaths, and health practitioners using herbal medicine.

We are also looking for submissions for workshops – interactive sessions designed to enhance the skills and knowledge of participants facilitated by topic experts.
