Trained through the University of Western Sydney and as winner of the UWS Dean's Award, Shona Taranto is a caring, dedicated and skilled naturopath.
Her overriding passion in life is to enable people to create concious and sustainable health practices in their daily lives - ultimately bringing with it health, energy and vitality.
Her strength as a clinician is her ability to develop holistic and logical health plans specific for each patient and she thrives on helping people take charge of their health and get the most out of life.
Alongside private practice, Shona and her partner own and operate a small farm specializing in growing salad greens, herbs and edible flowers. This business sees all its hand picked delights sold direct to the public at the Farmers Markets as well as select restaurants in Sydney. The operation has gained momentum and Shona and her partner are now proud to say the plot feeds up to 1000 customers every week.
Shona’s unique position, conversing with her customer base gives her a vantage point to inspire, cultivate and connect people with her passion for whole foods, nutrition and herbal medicine. She loves this interaction with the public and hopes to create a future where naturopathic and herbal medicine is ‘front of mind’ and accessible to everyone.
The farm is expanding in 2016 to a new location on the South Coast NSW. The new farm is located close to the ocean and the vision is to interweave growing production with health education, tours and day workshops. Shona looks forward to sharing all the farm has to offer with other like-minded professionals as well as adults and children in the community. Shona is also excited to be opening a small herbal dispensary in the local town called The Dispensary at Cobargo.
Shona would like to see the NHAA membership grow in the near future and looks forward to contributing to this goal. She hopes to bring her passion, dedication to the profession and zest for giving back to her community to the NHAA membership as a member of the Board.
